New Delhi:

The Congress’s electoral losses in three states has been somewhat reversed with a win in Telangana.

The party has crossed the halfway mark in the southern state, winning 65 seats in the 119-seat assembly, while Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) won 40, according to trends.

KCR himself is trailing by over 20,000 votes in Kamareddy seat, but leading in Gajwel.

The Congress is losing in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

With the latest win, the Congress will now be in power in three states on its own – Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh and Telangana. The party is also part of the ruling coalition in Bihar and Jharkhand and is an ally of the DMK in Tamil Nadu; however, it is not a part of the state government.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the Congress was expecting a victory in Telangana, based on internal assessment.

On the possibility of bringing the winning Congress MLAs in Telangana to Karnataka, Siddaramaiah said, “Why should we call them here? No MLA is going anywhere.”
